I agree with Phil, don't lift it like that. The toe rails were bespoke to the Swift and cannot be replaced if you bend them and judging by the photos, you wre right to stop. My advice would be to have a pair steel frames made up in the shape of a triangle so that the strops are vertical(ish). There ...

Swift Charter on South Coast?

Does anybody keep a Swift on the South Coast that they will let me charter for a weekend? I've been a Swift owner for a few years but sold it recently to buy a bigger boat for the family up in North Wales, it's a bit big to trailer though. I'm happy to leave a deposit and I would promise to look ...

I've had a few emails about the Spinnaker. It's very difficult to benchmark a price. Maybe email me an offer around £150? But, really, I have no idea. Mike, happy to deliver to Norfolk, I live in Cheshire but I have relatives in Norfolk. About size, it's big and it's red, white and blue and makes ...

Spinnaker and Pole

Regrettably, I've sold my Swift. Gutted, but too small for family. Wife and both daughters ganged up on me and wanted a boat with a bathroom. :(( Bought a Hunter 25. Anyway, the long and short of it is that I have a Spinnaker and Spinnaker Pole for a Swift, so if anyone wants it for a reasonable sum ...

Looks like I'll have to brush up on my passage planning skills!

Sorry chaps, got my timing all wrong and the little outboard wasn't going to save my embarrassment and motor against the manai current.

Anyway, good to meet you and Ruth again Gary.

I'll have to catch you again Terry.

Cheers

Gary, Terry, Sorry for the slow reply, been away on family hols. Every time I've planned to take out the Swift since we got back, the weather has been dreadful! Force 7-8 yesterday! Shipping forcast helpfully predicted Force 3 to 7, so that meant anything from 'gentle sail' to 'near death experience ...

Going away on holiday for a couple of weeks, so looking towards end of August. What tide conditions are best for you to sail in to conwy?

Great meeting you too Terry! Yes the wind changed suddenly so I did the last 2 miles on a run into conwy. On my 'epic' trip the other week I found that 2 people sat as far outwards to windward as possible was worth at least one reef. I've got a Dingy style tiller extension on mine to help, I don't ...

Not something i'd do with wife and kids! But me and my mate had fun. The toughest bit was puching out of Ardglass N. Ireland where a F7 had pinned us in the marina the day before. Wind had died to a F6 SSW next day but still 12ft waves breaking straight into the harbour entrance. 5hp motor on full ...

Just come back from a week long trip in Irish Sea in frequent Force 6 to 7.
6.8 knts was typical, peaking about 7.3. Gave up fighting the tiller and had to 2nd reef eventually which dropped the speed a bit though.
Can get around 5.7 in a Force 4.

Yes, moored until end sept, 740 quid for 4 months! Seems v.expensive to me but a lot closer to home than Pwelli. The manager has moved the boat once, I don't know if they make a habit of that, but we're on the budget berths now, about three quarters the way down on the left. Where are you? Took a ...
