Hi Mike - we have a Swift 18 "Little Cracker" at South Walsham, near Acle, on the Broads and sail her regularly all year round (except when she's frozen in!)

Thanks for your speedy and informative responses - very much appreciated. I have now greatly improved the situation by insulating the transom with a rubber car mat folded four times (ie two thicknesses each side of the transom), and not tightening the plate screws too tightly. Still not brilliant ...

I've just fitted a 4hp 4stroke Yamaha outboard to "Little Cracker" - it's tight fit, but just fits in ok. Trouble is there's a lot of vibration, especially at higher revs. I've fitted a folded rubber car mat under the motor, and lined the cover with carpet underfelt, both of which help a little, but ...
