Re: Lifting outboard bracket
Hi All, Sadly I sold my swift in the end (still gutted, I loved that boat!) , and I don't have the dimensions anymore for the bracket - I should also apologise for not checking back here following my last post. However, the bracket is 4 aluminium bars which hinge up and down on bolts, the stationary ...

Re: Keel pins snapped
I know this is now an old thread, but as it was invited to be updated, and I have some diagrams, I thought I'd pass this info on: When I bought my swift, the previous owner was very kind and gave me a load of old swift assoc. articles and pdfs, so hopefully these are useful: https://drive.google.com ...

Re: Lifting outboard bracket
I did wonder about that. The shopping list of bits is fairly straightforward. I bought the aluminium bars from ebay sellers and the gasstruts were from (unimaginatively) gasstruts.co.uk. I can certainly put together a list of the bits and measurements if anyone if interested. Mostly its just a case ...

Lifting outboard bracket
Hi All, I thought other swifties might be interested in my solution to the outboard problem I mentioned in a previous post. My boat lives in an area which seems to suffer badly from fouling (top of Southampton Water), and I didn't like the idea of leaving the outboard down in the well. I equally ...

Lifting outboard bracket
Hi, Just a further thought on this. I'm not sure my engine will work with John's mod because its a bit big and I think it wouldn't have the room to tilt. What I've been thinking of is slightly different. I'm wondering about making a lifting bracket that raises the outboard vertically. You can get ...

Thanks for the replies thus far. I don't know if I'm brave enough to chop through the transom as you have (but would be very interested in seeing photos John!). I can carry on antifouling the outboard but I still think that at some point I'll find barnacles up inside the engine where I can't paint ...

Outboards and salt water
Hi fellow swifties! A question if I may. I bought my Swift last year and the previous owner (who had looked after the boat really well) kept his motor in the outboard well all year round. I've done the same this season, but whereas he was in the Tamar, I'm based in the Solent, and in soton water I'm ...

Re: Launching on Friday.
Good to hear that you're ready to go The cockpit lockers should be a good place for a sensor but I would put it as far forward and as near the centre line as possible to ensure that it stay in the water. My head lining was shot at when I got the boat so I ripped it out and coated the roof with ...

Hiya, I'm in a similar state, having bought my swift last August, which by the time I'd joined a club, I've only had mine in the water for about 3 weeks. I'm itching to get sailing, having stared at my boat all winter on the drive! Winter work was smartening the tender up, and building a new fuse ...
