In the process of renewing insurance for my Swift 18. I've been with GJW (Groves, John & Westrup) for the last 3 years. No boat claims ever made. The Swift is kept on a club mooring on the Forth in season. Renewal is £246 incl 20% no claims discount for £5.5k of cover for boat, trailer, outboard and tender.
Seem ok or any alternative insurers recommended?

Seems a lot to me. I'm with Navigators General and pay £143.00 pa for 5 grand of cover. I've been with them for about 10 years with two different boats.
On my previous boat I, stupidly, left my genoa on a slipway and lost it. By the following week end the claim was settled in full and I had a spanking new sail to play with.
It's not just about the cost of the premium its also about whether they pay up when you need them to.

Agreed - thanks for the comment - will speak to current insurer for requote & get a quote from Navigators. Thanks 'Last Tuesday' for your feedback too.

Hi Stephen,
I have a 30ft racer/cruiser on a swing mooring in Southampton water and
I only pay £180 with GJW!
When I had a Swift 18 I insured it with Noble and that was about £150

I've obviously been paying far too much! Now signed up with Navigators for £137. Excess also drops from £150 to £50.
